These stacked in a row make a picture based on the colors and the pattern.
I have done several of them actually you have been looking at some of my work already.
If you are just starting the best way to start is with a kit. Those will give you all the thread you need along with a needle and piece of fabric. Make sure you choose the right kind of kit for you. Some come with darker pieces of fabric (that I have had a hard time with). Personally I like the lighter color fabric because it’s easier to see what you’re doing.
Others will use the darker fabric and even linen the same way I use the lighter colored fabrics. The main difference in the fabric is the size of the squares and whether you can see them or not.
Type Of Thread
You have a lot of chooses when it comes to the type of thread. I will go by what the chart recommends. The chart will also give you the colors needed for the cross stitch.
The regular thread is considered to be boring because of all the variations that are out there right now. You can add beads and other types of decorations to make it original as well.
Kits
Kits are also a fun way to cross stitch. They usually provide everything that you need to complete your work of art.
Books
Books are great for finding out how to do this. Although if you are already into it you can get some of the harder charts in a book as well. Magazines are also a good place to look for these craft. There are several different types that run around the world. Check your local book store for them they are in the craft section.
